Yello announced that its revolutionary new Y7 terminal has received all industry approvals and certifications and is now ready for market.
Displacing the traditional EPOS or payment terminal experience, the tablet-sized Y7 removes long-established in-store pain barriers and represents a new generation of customer service and payment terminals. Y7 can accept all card and digital payment methods – from magstripe, EMV chip and pin and contactless to WeChat Pay and Yoyo.
By combining POS functionality with all payment methods, this new and fully integrated OmniPOS payment experience is set to transform how customers interact with brands at the point of purchase, whether it’s delivering payment, loyalty and rewards in a single moment, extracting individual purchase preference data to create hyper-personalised offerings or totally removing queues in-store.
The Y7 provides great-looking, simple, secure and universal payment acceptance at an affordable price for the widest range of industries, from retail and restaurants to transportation and healthcare.
For the first time, consumers can be met with a seamless and consistent payment experience, whether they’re paying in-store, in-restaurant, ordering a train ticket, buying a lottery ticket, paying for items at the moment of delivery, or even at the doctor’s office.
Mike Ausems, CEO and co-founder of Yello, said: “Developed in-house by Yello in Paris, the Y7 has been designed with a laser focus on the customer experience during uncountable testing sessions. It is built around our hybrid payment reader combined with smartphone technology and a world-first switchable privacy shield against shoulder surfing. The benefit is that it is PCI PTS approved yet totally removes the need for a cumbersome physical privacy shield. This partnership with Yoyo is a prime example of Yello’s mission to build simple, open tools and payment services to help with in-person service and sales.”
“It’s also inspired by and perfected for the American market as it transitions from magstripe to contact EMV cards to mobile payments. Thanks to its hybrid payment reader customers won’t be confused with one slot for magstripe cards and a different slot for EMV contact cards, whether the Y7 terminal is used in fixed, mobile, attended or unattended mode. It’s EMV certified and reads EMV contact and contactless, magstripe, and QR codes with its front and back cameras. It supports Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, WeChat Pay in addition to Yoyo Wallet, and will soon support UnionPay, JCB, and Alipay.”
Alain Falys, Chairman of mobile payment and loyalty platform Yoyo Wallet, said: “While Yoyo is already integrated into the world’s most popular POS software, this new, groundbreaking OmniPOS Y7 terminal from Yello is a game changer when it comes to delivering the most simple, integrated payments and loyalty experience at the point of purchase, anywhere.”
“In short, the Y7 will help open up Yoyo’s combined payments and loyalty experience to even more verticals, whether it’s building on our leadership around food and beverage and quick service restaurants or opening up into new sectors like department stores, transport and healthcare.”
