Founders Bank, has appointed former Deutsche Bank executive Kenan Altunis as chief executive officer, according to Bloomberg.

The Malta-based bank, whose investors include crypto exchange Binance, is planning to serve technology companies such as startups in the blockchain and cryptocurrency markets that have had trouble securing services from traditional banks. The bank is working to get a license from the Malta Financial Services Authority and plans to offer services in Europe.

Altunis was the global co-head of the institutional client group within Deutsche Bank’s corporate and investment bank, where he supervised a team of more than 1,000 people and dealt directly with institutional investors and regulators. He departed the bank last year after he lost his seat on the investment bank’s executive committee amid a restructuring under Garth Ritchie, who cut the number of senior executives. He will start at Founders Bank in June.
