Comcarde Ltd, an Edinburgh based payment start-up, has appointed Neira Jones, a seasoned veteran of the payments and security industry, as its chairman. With over 20 years of experience working for companies such as Barclaycard, Santander, Abbey National and Oracle Corp, Jones is also a fintech and digital innovation expert, regularly advising companies and regulators on payments innovation and cyber security.
Alongside her new role Jones is also an advisor and ambassador for the Emerging Payments Association, Non-Executive Director for cyber security firm Cognosec AB and a partner at the Global Cyber Alliance.
Jones said “I’ve been working with Comcarde as a Non-Executive Director since early 2014 and I’m thrilled to be taking on the role of chairman at this very exciting time for the business. I look forward to contributing even more to the growth of this innovative company”.
Comcarde’s CEO, Jim Goodman commented on the announcement “Neira has been instrumental in her role as a Non-Executive Director in shaping our business from the start and we look forward to her helping us drive our Bridge payments system forward to release in 2017”.
Jones’ expertise in payments regulation will allow her to guide the company through partnerships agreements to license Comcarde’s PSD2 compliant APIs. The service will allow banking partners to develop new payments services prior to new regulation being enforced in January 2018.
Jones also stated “I’m very excited to increase my involvement with Comcarde, a highly innovative business with huge potential within the payments space. I look forward to working with the management team to launch Bridge”.
Comcarde’s management team are currently working towards a series A investment round to raise money to launch its Bridge mobile payments platform in early 2017.
