As more Americans turn to their devices for mobile shopping, the need for simple and secure ways to pay are evident for both consumers and merchants. Visa Checkout, the easier way to use a Visa card online, allows customers to pay in just a few clicks on any device around the web and around the world. For this reason, Visa Checkout is now one of the most popular ways to pay online, with more than 19 million enrolled users able to checkout at merchants worldwide.

Today, in partnership with Samsung, we are excited to announce that starting in 2017, Samsung Pay users who link a Visa Checkout account with Samsung Pay will be able to shop online at merchants where Visa Checkout is accepted. Samsung Pay users on Samsung devices will be able to click a Visa Checkout/Samsung Pay co-branded button, access their payment and address information and biometrically authenticate to securely send their information to merchants, where available. Merchants can continue to use their existing Visa Checkout integration and get the benefit of Samsung Pay and Visa Checkout’s secure and highly converting payment experience.

“We are very excited to be working with Visa to offer simple, fast and secure checkout experiences to millions of Samsung Pay users on their mobile devices or desktop.” Injong Rhee, CTO of the Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics. ”Our partnership benefits not only Samsung Pay users but also hundreds of thousands of online merchants who are looking for effective ways to increase their checkout conversion rates.”

The Samsung Pay integration will take advantage of Visa Checkout’s open platform and a streamlined set of APIs. Open access to Visa Checkout APIs will allow issuers and digital wallet providers to easily integrate Visa Checkout and offer customers a simple, more secure way to pay for online and in-app purchases. For merchants, it expands a service to potentially millions of new digital wallet customers and has proven to increase conversion rates (getting a customer from shopping cart to purchase) by 86 percent[1]. For consumers, the days of pulling out a card from a physical wallet are quickly becoming old school—and for good reason.

Samsung will offer Visa Checkout integrated with Samsung Pay by the end of 2017 in markets where Samsung Pay and Visa Checkout are both available.
